Where to stay in Plettenberg Bay : Things to do in Plettenberg Bay

We booked our stay here at Milkwood Manor on Sea which is surrounded by both sea and lagoon hugging the Tsitsikamma Mountains. This hotel has a direct access to Lookout beach. We had a comfortable stay here and would definitely recommend it to you guys!

Things to do in Plettenberg Bay

  • Go for hiking at Robberg Reserve
  • Chill at Robberg beach
  • Have lunch at Central Beach
  • Go for swimming at Lookout beach
  • Enjoy the views from Whale Tail Lookout Point
  • Grab sundowners and have dinner at Lookout Deck Restaurant

Hike to the Robberg Reserve

It is said that the Robberg Nature Reserve hike is one of the best and beautiful hikes in South Africa along the green peninsula with amazing views of the Atlantic coast located right next to Plettenberg Bay. We hiked for very short duration, but really enjoyed it. Several scenic hiking trails along the peninsula also allow a chance to get close to nature and spot dolphins, seals, and whales frolicking nearby, though we had hard luck spotting any of those. With rock formations dating back more than 120 million years, Robberg is also declared as a World Heritage Site FYI. Once you enter the reserve, you would find the parking area first, and the hiking trail starts from the left(on the side of Plettenberg Bay) There are 3 Robberg hiking trails, but the longest hiking trail is 11 km.
Note: If you are a Wild Card holder for SANPark, you don’t have to pay anything additional to enter Robberg Nature Reserve. However if you don’t have a wild card entry charges would be R50 (adults) & R30
(children)

Robberg Beach

We both can spend hours and hours just doing nothing at the beach and we are sure that’s the best thing to do for most of you as well. There are three beaches in Plett, all equally beautiful with gorgeous golden- sand beaches. Robberg beach is also near Beacon Isle. This 5km stretch beach is the perfect spot for long relaxing and sun bathing.

Central Beach

Once you are back from Robberg beach, directly mark your way to the Central beach which lies just 5 min ahead of Robberg beach, and also a very popular spot among locals and families.

We decided to finish our lunch here as central beach is very popular with good reviewed restaurants and bars.
Oh! yeah don’t miss trying Malva pudding anywhere here. Thank us later! Definitely come here if you like a bit of happening vibe on a beach and also you can avail bunch of fun water activities like paragliding, surfing etc.

Lookout Beach

Lookout beach was just a mile ahead from our hotel. This beach is relatively calmer compared to the others and had lesser crowd. Its a perfect stretch to swim and surf.

Whale Tail Lookout Point

This is a lovely vantage spot to look down at the lagoon, the ocean and the long stretch of beaches. You would find that there is a detailed map, an excellent information point about whales, lots of benches where you can sit back, read a book watch the waves come and go, spot surfers, or even enjoy a picnic.
To get here, you can either drive to the end of Formosa Street, where you’ll find the parking lot. You can also walk down to Lookout Deck restaurant from this car park.

Sundowners at Lookout Deck Restaurant

The Lookout Deck is known as the best restaurant in town for its gorgeous view overlooking the ocean and of course for the great food they offer & you can’t go wrong with any of their seafood options!
With their wide array of food and cocktail menu, it’s the perfect place to end the
day hearing the waves crashing and watching the birds returning home.

Envisioning the lovely end to this amazing time at “PLETTENBERG” and now we would
head towards our next destination Tsitsikama National Park.
