We booked our stay at Ebb & Flow which is no ordinary lodge and we are still obsessing over it. It is also a perfect place for camping which also offers activities like forest walks, canoeing, fishing and field games too. We booked our cottage along the river’s edge and canoed until the sun went down and even started the next day with the same. We experienced an amazing time staying here and would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting Wilderness, its absolutely stunning and peaceful.

Canoeing at Touw River

Canoeing along the waterways of the area is very popular here all year round. We rented our canoe from the camp office itself which costed us 73R per person for an hour. Ahh we wouldn’t have missed it for anything, definitely one of the best time we spent in Wilderness.

Hike the Half Collared Kingfisher Trail

The trail starts on Waterside road 3 1⁄2 km NE from Wilderness, just before you reach a bridge over the Touw river which is a 7.2 km trail (out & back) takes approximately 3-4 hrs depending on your speed . We had to pay 52R per person at the reception before entering.
It is mostly a leisurely walk through forest along a stream leads up to a waterfall, however we could not finish it till the end because of Riju’s knee injury, sadly!

Wilderness Beach

From Ebb & Flow camp to the Wilderness beach it would take less than 5min of driving, you can say this beach just lies on the opposite side to the camp. This Wilderness beach stretches almost 9 km all the way to Kleinkrantz.

We didn’t see much of activities happening around, however it is a clean and isolated beach where you can sun lounge and can also go for a swim. It was awfully windy while we went making the weather very unpleasant for us to go for a swim. We sat there for an hour almost until the sun said goodbye.

Buffelsbaai

From Ebb & Flow camp we drove for another 20min and reached Buffelsbaai which is perfect for swimming and surfing. It also has a restaurant there which helps if you want to spend the afternoon there after a good sunbath and swim.
This is a lovely beach to walk on and its really surprising there are so few people enjoying this great beach. Do visit this place if you have enough time we are sure you gonna love spending some quality time here.

Map of Africa View Point

Gaze at the misty cliffs of the N2 garden route with an unbelievable sight of map of Africa. This is an extraordinary view point situated at Wilderness Heights which lies between the towns of Knysna and George and approximately takes 10 min of drive from Wilderness.

Envisioning the lovely end to this amazing time at Wilderness and now we would head towards our next destination “PLETTENBERG”
