In this blog we would write about the best things to do in Kampala, Uganda. Rather would say how we had planned ours and everything you need to know before you go. We had a great time at Kampala doing the Kampala City Tour which is surrounded by 7 hills & valleys. The following are some of the best things to see in Kampala.

Uganda is a country in East Africa bearing equatorial climate and Kampala is its capital and is the largest city. Kampala, being the capital has a diverse population making the city densely populated. Kampala is a fast developing city where you would find warm welcoming people from different cultures and also can dig into amazing range of foods and experience the best of nightlife.

We landed in Entebbe international airport from Nairobi, Kenya and stayed there for 3 nights and made our day trips to other regions from there. However, if you are running short of time you can go for Kampala city sightseeing for a day trip as well.

So if you are planning your trip to Uganda, we highly recommend visiting some of these places in Kampala. You can book your trip through African Adventure Travellers, can highly recommend them and specially ask for guide named Moses.

1. Visit the Uganda National Mosque

The Uganda National Mosque is located at Kampala Hill in Kampala. This is a skyscraper mosque and is the largest one in Uganda. This Mosque came as a gift from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi of Libya to benefit the Muslim population in the year 2006.

We paid 20,000 UGX or 5$ per person to enter the mosque per person for a guided tour. It’s a beautiful Mosque inside out which holds the panoramic view of the entire Kampala city. We managed to climb up a tower which has 274 stairs from where we could see the seven hills Kampala was originally built on, but it has now expanded to many more hills.

2. Spend some moment near Lake Victoria

Lake Victoria is one of the African lakes which was renamed after Queen Victoria and is also the second largest fresh water lake. We would say if it is possible you can also choose staying at some the beautiful properties overlooking Lake Victoria. If not than you may choose any pretty corners at one of many cafes there, for a cup of coffee and watch the sunset.

3. See the Kasubi Tomb – Best Things to do in Kampala

It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is the burial ground for four Kabaka kings and other members of the Baganda royal family including all history about the kings of Buganda kingdom. We ran short of time so could not make it up to there, but would definitely recommend if you love history and culture.

4. Visit the Uganda Museum – Best Things to do in Kampala

This is the oldest museum in East Africa which was established in 1908 by the British and in the year 2008 it turned 100 years old. This museum has a wide collections of musical instruments, hunting equipment, weaponry etc from all different parts of Uganda from 1960s which draws the area of interest.
