Is Seychelles safe to travel?

Also as of now SEYCHELLES only has 3 positive cases and they have again focused on resuming its operations and tourism.

Okay hold on….things were not that easy for us at all to go through all country Covid guidelines. Each day we decided our itinerary something or the other updated issues came up and blundered our plan and trust us that was so annoying.

So basically with the current scenario, different countries have come up with different rules and regulations for entry. This is 27th of Nov 2020 and today we are leaving for Seychelles keeping in mind all necessary precautions and guidelines.

We are departing from Nairobi, Kenya and so many things still going in and around. Seychelles government on their website has listed name of countries who are eligible for entry. The list is also categorized into 1 and 2 category stating the Covid protocols which need be strictly followed.

Australia, Israel, Pakistan, Botswana, Japan, Qatar, Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Cambodia, Latvia, Saudi Arabia, China, Liechtenstein, Singapore, Cote d’Ivoire, Malawi, South Africa, Cuba, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Cyprus, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Egypt, Malta, Thailand, Estonia, Mauritius, Vietnam, Finland, Monaco, Zambia, Ghana, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Iceland, Niger, Ireland, Norway.

Austria, Switzerland, France, United Arab Emirates, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy.

However, there might be a change in the names listed with the time and situation given. So it’s always advice-able to keep a check in their official site, which has been outlined in their government advisory and also which is periodically revised.

Covid rules pre-arrival – Seychelles Travel Advice

Visitors including adults and children listed in category 1 and 2 are required (mandatory) to do COVD -19 PCR TEST from a registered laboratory before arrival . You are allowed in the country with a negative report only. For people of category 1 PCR tests must be done before 72hrs, meanwhile people falling in category 2 is 48 hrs.

Now this is a very important thing you all must keep in mind for where and when to book your stays/ accommodations. You really need to search for accommodations which are licensed / certified with Seychelles government (for all categories).

You need to ensure that your accommodation bookings are made only at licensed establishments which have been certified by the Public Health Authority.

While visitors falling in category 1 can only stay in (any two) listed establishments for the first 7 days. However, visitors falling in category 2 can only stay in (one) listed establishment at least for 5 consecutive days Also visitors are not permitted to stay at private residences. 

You must also ensure that you have valid travel insurance with full medical coverage, including Covid19 related medical care and PCR TEST report( everything in hard copy) for the duration of your stay.

You need to make sure to submit negative PCR test results, flight and accommodation details before your departure to the Health Travel Authorisation and must submit your application in soft copy for approval through this link: – https://seychelles.govtas.com/

Important : Getting the Health Travel Authorization(HTA) is a must prior to boarding the flight. You can apply for the authorization only after receiving your PCR test result and have to pay a fee of 45 Euros per person .Generally the travel authorization result is shared within 6-10 hours from the time of submission.

While you enjoy your stay, it is essential that you all remain safe and not violate any given rules and also take care of others safety as well and keep Seychelles safe.

As per  the new protocol visitors falling in category 1 & 2 again need to go for a mandatory COVID 19 PCR TEST after the 5th night or 6th day of arrival (no charges incurred, Govt will do the test for free) . If you wish to take part in any recreational activities such as tours, excursions, sightseeing etc. you need to use licensed tourism service providers that have been certified by the Public Health Authority and also visitors are not permitted to use public buses or any public transportation available.

PCR Testing in Seychelles for Departing Visitors – Seychelles Travel Restrictions

The Seychelles authorities do not require PCR testing for anyone departing from Seychelles. However, many airlines or your other destinations may require it.  For that you might be required to do the test where you can  directly contact the Public Health Authority in advance  by email –[email protected] or telephone +248 4388410 tso that they can help you make all necessary arrangements you would need. The PCR test currently costs SCR2, 500.00. Children below the age of 12 years and persons of 65 years and above are exempted from the fee.

On Arrival Random Rapid Tests – Seychelles Travel Coronavirus

In addition to above procedures, you might be subject to rapid test on arrival at Mahe International Airport (this is random selection of arriving passengers and if you test negative go ahead signal would be given within 15 minutes).
