How to book the tickets for Jebel Jais Zipline?
We were already in Dubai enjoying all its attraction. Puja had a thrilling experience at Dubai Skydive. Checking her skydiving video one of her friends suggested her to check out World’s Longest Zipline at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah. We had kept our Dubai itinerary pretty relaxed and had kept spare days just to plan out some offbeat locations. The moment we watched the video of Jebel Jais Zipline we were excited. Honestly I was slightly scared 🙂 Puja had already done her skydiving and she really wanted me to try this out…and I agreed finally!!
It’s pretty easy to book the tickets online and takes just couple of minutes. Just make sure you do the booking before-hand(a day or 2 in prior) as there is quite a rush. This Zipline is operated by Toroverde and you can directly book here – Jebel Jais Flight.
Once I booked online I received a mail with confirmation of the booking. Filled up the Waiver Form(Declaration that Toroverde will not be responsible if anything goes wrong!!) and shared with them beforehand to avoid any hassle of filling it up on arrival.
How much is the ticket price?
Well, I was anxious to know the price. We were slightly running on budget as we had already spent a handful during our Dubai trip. To my surprise it costed me 300 DHS when I booked the ticket. The voucher mentioned that there was a discount of 50%!! We definitely felt happy 🙂
My Experience at Jebel Jais Zipline: What to expect
A Day I will Always Remember. Well while writing this I feel I am glad that Puja pushed me to experience this as I remember the feeling that morning. I woke up and can admit I was scared. I was staying in Al Seef Bur Dubai Creek area and the map showed 2.10 hrs drive to Jebel Jais.
1) Awesome Road Trip: Jebel Jais Zipline Experience
We had pre booked our car for the full day. We both love road trip and within 45mins of leaving the city we were welcomed by stunning landscapes. The last hour specially surrounded by Hajar Mountains and the winding roads to reach the top of Jebel Jais was probably the highlight of our trip. You can go to Jebel Jais just to witness the epic scenery during your road trip.
2) Viewing Spots: Jebel Jais Mountains
On the way to the top there were multiple viewing decks offering mind blowing views of Jebel Jais Mountain range. We left well on time and took couple of breaks at the viewing decks. You can also do overnight camping at many of the spots.
3) Reaching The Toroverde Welcome Centre:
We had to show our ticket and was granted entry to the top where you have the welcome centre or office of Toroverde. We were 45mins early from my slot time but once I showed my ticket I didn’t have to wait. You should reach atleast 30mins early than your mentioned slot to avoid delay.
4) Getting Ready for the Jebel Jais Flight:
As I had already filled the Waver Form beforehand I was asked to stand in the section where I was put into the safety gears and flying suit for the Zipline. This normally would take 5-10mins at max. If you already have your GoPro(like us) and have the head mounting gear for Go Pro then please remember to carry the same to record the amazing flight. If you do not have the same you can rent it from the office for a cost of 100 AED for the GoPro and another 35AED for the head mounting gear.
5) Reaching the Top & Starting Point of Flight:
Once you are ready with your basic gears you will get into a shuttle which will take you to the top and starting point of Jebel Jais Flight. It took me 7-10mins to reach the point in the shuttle with other group members. Once we reached the top we saw the starting deck and witnessed the jaw dropping view from the top. I was both nervous and excited and I am sure I was not the only one feeling this way as I saw everyone with same expressions. Once at top there was a short briefing session by the tour operators mentioning about safety protocols and basic guidelines which we need to follow. Post the session we were put into the queue. I was looking at the flight of the other members in the front of my queue and definitely felt scared!!
6) What to Wear: My Experience at Jebel Jais Zipline
Well it may get pretty cold, especially at the starting point of the flight. Luckily I had done my research and was wearing a wind cheater. It was not only cold around 8 degrees but extremely windy. I was glad that I was wearing layers to keep my body warm!!
7) The Incredible Flight Experience – Felt Like a Superman!!
Within 15mins of standing in the queue finally the moment arrived which I will remember forever. At first I took the spot and safety gears were attached and was put on my flying suit. Then I was asked to take up push up position so that they can put me in a ‘Laying Belly Down’ position. I was asked to put my hands behind so that there I limited friction with the wind and I attain the desired speed during my flight. Basis your weight they will add some more weights so that you gain more speed because of the pull!! Once I was ready the operator checked with his counterpart on the other end with the walkie talkie and with his go ahead pushed us a bit and released the hold – and you are off!!
I still get goose bumps thinking of the first couple of seconds. The winds were gushing and I was accelerating to a speed of over 100 KPH. Below me I could see the rocky terrain and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The view was breath-taking and I was all pumped up and feeling the adrenaline rush. I was not scared anymore but was enjoying it so much!! I felt like a falcon flying across the mountains.
The flying time depends on the speed you attain and your body weight. It took me 2.30mins to reach the landing deck!! As I approached the landing deck I realized not enough weight was added and my flight got stopped 50 metres prior to the madding deck. I was already instructed of this situation before and I heard the instructor at the landing end telling me to grab hold of the pulling rope. I quickly grabbed and pulled the rope and soon was at the landing deck 🙂
8) Short Flight on a second zipline and back to the welcome centre: World’s Longest Zipline
The landing area is suspended on the air and I was removed of my safety harness once I reached there. I was then again attached the harness for another short zip lining in a sitting position for last 100 metres to reach the road where the shuttle was waiting for me. I took couple of pictures and was so excited to get back to the Welcome Centre and tell Puja about my experience.
It was one of the most memorable day for me and glad that we decided to visit this place. Check out my full video here:
