Uganda, is a country in East Africa which is bordered to Kenya in the east, Sudan in the north, Democratic Republic of Congo in the west,  Rwanda towards the south west and  by Tanzania to the south. The capital city of Uganda is Kampala. From the time we settled in Kenya we had a desire to travel to Uganda and finally we are beginning the 2021 finally planning the itinerary. Is Uganda safe to travel in 2021?

As of now Uganda do have positive cases, however the President have again focused to reopen its international borders and tourism.

With the current scenario, different countries have come up with different rules and regulations for entry. This is 27th of Feb 2021 and today we are leaving for Uganda keeping in mind all necessary precautions and guidelines.

We are departing from Nairobi, Kenya and so many things still going in and around. To enter Uganda, you need to have a negative Covid-19 PCR test which can be done within 120 hours before arrival to the country.           

However, if any passengers show signs or symptoms of any infectious disease they will be taken to a local isolation center to undergo a COVID-19 test at their own cost. Passengers who arrive without a valid negative test certificate will be denied entry. Also infants below three years of age and under are exempted from the Covid 19 tests.

You can do your PCR test at Test and Fly Centre in Kampala. This center is open for 24hrs and results are given within 12 hrs. Cost is 65 USD.

Other Vaccinations required to enter Uganda : Is Uganda Safe to Travel

Yellow Fever : Passengers travelling to Uganda are compulsorily required to take the vaccination certificate for Yellow Fever from age of nine months and older.

Also there is a high risk of Malaria in Uganda throughout the year in the entire country. Though you don’t have to take any particular vaccination for that, you can consult with your doctor and take medicines for malaria.

To visit Uganda, it is recommended that you are vaccinated against hepatitis A and B, typhoid, tetanus, , meningitis, cholera, rabies, polio, MMR, chickenpox/shingles, pneumonia and influenza. Most of these vaccinations you may have already taken during your childhood.
